My Promise to Ojai

"I will revitalize Ojai's morale by staying true to the small-town values that make Ojai a wonderful place to live."

Left:  Paul Blatz takes the oath of office, July 13, 2001

  • I Promise to preserve Ojai’s pristine beauty by standing up to developers and large chain stores that want to swallow up Ojai’s open spaces.

  • I Promise to protect Ojai from companies like Golden State Water who think they can constantly raise rates while selling us our own water.

  • I Promise to get tough on City sub-contractors and City employees who are soaking up your tax dollars when more economical options are available.

  • I Promise to promote only the right kind of businesses for Ojai, ones that will help to fill the empty buildings littering Ojai Avenue and to bring badly needed tax revenues back into the City.  But any business interests must be balanced against Ojai’s need to preserve its small-town quality of life.

  • I Promise to protect Ojai’s precious environment by fighting the air and water pollution often caused by out-of- town-forces such as the gravel trucks.

  • I Promise to create incentives for green businesses to come to Ojai.  I will work hard to alter Ojai’s outdated building codes to promote green construction and environmental balance.

  • I Promise to support Ojai’s senior citizens by promoting projects which will benefit our seniors, and by working to ensure the continued success of HELP of Ojai.

  • I Promise to support Ojai’s youth by finding ways the City can help our struggling schools, and to push forward the Skateboard Park construction.
